PRIVATE MEDIA CRY FOUL OVER CONGRESS ACCREDITATION
Many local, private and independent media houses are describing the treatment that they received from the ZANU PF headquarters as unfair after they were denied accreditation to cover the ongoing congress.
The denial came after they were labelled as opposition and others as publishers of fake news.
The event, which kicked off on Thursday, was preceded by the last Zanu PF Politburo meeting Wednesday, before selection of new members into the central committee.
NewZimbabwe.com, Heart and Soul and TechMag are among a host of other media houses that were barred from covering the congress because they publish “fake news”.
Golden Maunganidze, the Chairman of Media Institute of Southern Africa(MISA) has condemned the discrimination of the media by political parties.
“We strongly condemn issues of discrimination by organisations. We would like to encourage political parties to treat journalists fairly despite their media organisations and allow them to do their work.
According to Newzimbabwe.com, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) this year also denied coverage by a State media news crew.
